- Metro Rail: With an ongoing fast track work for the Mumbai Metro, a rapid transit system, the city will see 2 new metro corridors by December 2019 and another by 2021. Additionally, the authorities have proposed 6 additional Metro Corridors, which when completed will become a core transportation system in Mumbai spanning a total of 235 km. serviced by 200 different stations .

- Navi Mumbai International Airport: An under construction green-field airport, the Navi Mumbai International Airport will be a second international airport for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. With a capacity to handle 10 million passengers per annum in its first phase, the airport is expected to become operational by 2019. With a total area spanning 1,160 hectares, the airport will be further expanded to its full capacity by 2030 which will have a capacity to handle 60 million passengers per annum .

- Sea Routes: Mumbai, infamous for its congested roads can soon witness faster commute with the Centre carving out new plans using sea routes. The Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has proposed a new sea route connecting Thane with Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, specifically to carry goods and commodities. Additionally, a passenger ferry service is expected to begin at these junctions that will eventually decongest the traffic while providing faster commutation using its inland water transport system.

- Bullet Train: The Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train, expected to commence its first train on 15th August 2022 will see, for the first time in India, connecting two major cities Mumbai and Ahmedabad using a high-speed rail corridor. Designed to operate at a maximum speed of 350 kilometers per hour, each train will have a passenger capacity between 1300-1600 passengers and will complete a one-way journey in approximately 2-3 hours .
